Re: Does your rigging creak?

Nope … but if there’s sufficient wind it will hum an annoying tune .

Re: Does your rigging creak?

The only thing that sometimes creaks is the main sheet / traveler assemblies. I just tether it off to one side and that pretty well takes care of any noise the rigging makes from swaying.

But like Mike O said, wind will make a hum. It vibrates down into the boat. Super not awesome.

Re: Does your rigging creak?

Nope, rigging is quiet. Boom has annoying squeak at the yoke, preventer quiets that down.

Re: Does your rigging creak?

No creaking. Offhand I would say if you’re hearing creaking something somewhere is not tensioned properly.

Only boats I’ve been on that routinely creak are big race boats with the whole rig under considerable tension as it powers up after a tack. But that’s temporary and just running rigging.

Re: Does your rigging creak?

Creaking = movement.

Movement = something seriously wrong if it happens while rocking at anchor.

Our rigging doesn’t make noise sailing close hauled in 20 knots of wind. Yours should not either.

only time my rig creaks is when one of the wedges re aligns or there is an issue. both my masts and my sprit and booms are wood.

Re: Does your rigging creak?

Yes, it creaks. Not as much as the rest of the boat though.
