OpenCPN and Charts for Bahamas

I've been looking at TimeZero, but it's really expensive. We have all Raymarine and Navionics charts...

So I downloaded OpenCPN on my Mac, works great. Now I'm trying to figure out what charts are best for the Bahamas? and Caribbean?

Recommendations?

Explorer charts used to be the best for the Bahamas. See:

Thank you, but it looks like fugawi.com is no longer... is there another place to get Explorer Charts for OpenCPN?

Have a look Here: https://www.explorercharts.com/index...id=5&Itemid=54

Not for Opencpn, but for your plotter.

Thank you. I was poking around there, but wasn't sure if they would work with OpenCPN. I really want to get a planning software. We aren't a big fan of the navionics app and doing it on the Raymarine plotter is... painful?!

o-charts.org has bahamas I believe. Do a search in the Wiki Manual.

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...:charts:oesenc

https://o-charts.org/

Contact ocharts and ask.

Thank you

I did buy those charts, but... I must be doing something wrong, because I can't even see the West End marina on those charts. I sent them a message.

Re: OpenCPN and Charts for Bahamas

Also NOAA has RNC and ENC charts for the Bahamas that are perfectly adequate for planning, and many people would use them.

Download and install Opencpn, then access the Noaa charts by downloading them using the ChartDownloader plugin which is part of Opencpn

Re: OpenCPN and Charts for Bahamas

If you look at the descriptions and thump nails with the chart outlines you shall see that the Bahamas are not included in the oeSENC Caribbean Collection in a scale valid for navigation in this area.

Most experienced sailors in the Bahamas agree that the Explorer charts are the most reliable material. And as Fugawi left the chart business, these charts are not available for OpenCPN right now.
We will try to revert this, but there are many yards to go to get to this point, I fear.

There are NV charts available (--> NV-plugin for OCPN Windows only) for the Bahamas as well.
