Requesting Fiji and Australia Itinerary Advice

I'm in Fiji, and don't want to rush to make the Indian Ocean seasonal window. I would like to spend a year between Fiji and Australia and make the Darwin departure next season.

I see two options...

1: Extend visa in Fiji until May 2018 and spend hurricane season here and then visit Australia June-September 2018.

2: Stay in Fiji until September 2017 and get to Brisbane before hurricane season starts, stay until its over and then go up and around to depart Darwin August or September 2018
-(The biggest problem with this options seems to be insurance to stay at a marina. I'm a US citizen and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to get insurance for Australia, any advice?)

If you have more options I'd love to hear them...

These guys offer third party liability insurance for a reasonable fee to foreign yachts in Australia:
