Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
Using my new b+g vulcan 5 and cmap n+. Lighted buoys di not show the buoy number on the Info Popup.
Cmap is blaming b+g. B+g are closed so I don't know their side.
But if the number wasn't important, why are they narked? Would save a lot of paint!
Here is a video of what I mean.
https://youtu.be/ZTNDfXpkRLU
Cmap customer service actually said that apparently b+g didn't want to show that info.
The built in insight maps show the number, just not cmap
Got to be kidding me. The chip was almost as expensive as the plotter!

Not sure how you are saying this is CMap's fault. The info is pretty likely to be in their chart file. It is up to the chartplotter to display out of the database.

Re: Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
I don't know. It's not showing .
Will see what b+g says when they get back ok the office.
Historically, one maker blames the other,. Cmap has fired the first volley blaming b+g.
But it's a problem!

Re: Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
For another data point, I use the Jepperson/CMap charts on my Furuno and the marker numbers show up.

And it's strange, this only happens on the lighted buoys.
Non-lighted buoys show correctly

Re: Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
I don't know about B&G, but in the case of my Standard Horizon and Jeppson CMap when I had a software issue I was told by both SH and Jeppson that Jeppson actually writes the portion of the software that displays the chart, not just the stuff on the chip, but (at least part of) the SW on the chart plotter
ps - on mine, buoy numbers do show.

Re: Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
FWIW, Jeppensen's Plan2Nav app with C-Map charts shows lighted buoy numbers around here on the chart (depending on zoom level), and then also in the info pop-up.

Yes the numbers are important, helps determine which of 5 or 10 or whatever bouys on that side of the boat against a featureless background you are looking at.

Yes the numbers are important. They give location and an indication of which side of the buoy the channel is on.

Re: Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
Buoy numbers do matter but lighted buoys AKA lights not so much. They are almost never close to each other so correct identification is usually easy. Also the flash pattern which I assume is shown gives you a definite ID even when too dark to see a number. That said, I cannot understand why the distributor thinks this is not a product flaw. I wouldn't buy it but if given one I would not throw it away either.

Re: Is a buoy number important? C-Map doesn't think so
doo you only sail in daylight /cardinal beacons flash their numbers its important not to get to close before you id the beacon /some of them if you can see the beacon you are too close/put the cursor on the beacon to get its position- right click -object query.// wonder how many paper charts have click written on them following instructions /write click
