WARNING: Salty Dawgs/Caribbean 1500

iF YOU'RE IN CONTACT WITH ANY PARTICIPANTS PLEASE GET THE WORD OUT/LET THEM KNOW:

I read earlier today that at least proportion of the fleets were now already in, or bearing away towards Bermuda; an end to all that beating to windward and a chance to recover re-group whilst the stronger 25-35 knot easterlies blow through.
However, it appears that the tropical wave causing those stronger winds is now being predicted to develop into a tropical or sub-tropical storm with 50-60 knot winds possible in two or three days to the north of the Virgins/Puerto Rico.
Bad enough in itself, but Passageweather is also predicting that when formed, this storm could well be re-curving to pass close to or over Bermuda too.

Looks like a week of ugly, changing weather. The rallies have their own weather forecaster plus a daily check-in, so pretty sure most are making plans.

I just looked at the tracking map for the salty dawg rally at OCENS and it looks like the fleet is split between diverting to Bermuda and carrying on towards the BVI. I counted at least 20 boats that are heading for really rough weather. Lets hope they know what they are doing.
