Most frequent lie encountered: at just about every marina, "yes we have wifi and yes it works" ... not

you have at least 6 feet of water at low tide in the channel and the marina. No worries!!! Come on in.

A guy at a local ship chandler attempted to convince me that

1) A bottle of Propane was a bottle of Butane
1b) That Propane and Butane are the same thing.

At Marina's:

1) Staff walks the dock regularly
2) Staff keeps an eye on boats and lines
3) Bathrooms are cleaned "x" frequency

How some describe their vessel... perhaps best defined in the Sailing Pocket Dictionary by Henry Beard & Roy McKie:

Yacht: Any recreational craft whose owner or user is not responsible for her upkeep, or whose owner recognizes sufficient tax benefits from his ownership to defray all operating expenses. Also commonly used to describe any boat prior to its purchase, and by many boat owners to describe their vessel to persons who have never seen it and are never likely to do so...
