Are you sure? I once got some bleach on one corner of one of my teak shower grates, and it permanently stained it.

Borax. A very effective fungicide that will not harm the wood. Also used in wood preservation. Google it.

I wonder if non-copper pool algicide in a bucket of water brushed on at weekly intervals might kill it.

Jamesjle,

Fungi spread by showering their spores all over the area. The spores are extremely resistant to chemicals. You'll need a fungicide. If having teak fungus is a common problem where you keep your boat, possibly one of the local shipwrights will know what is working best at your location.

Fungus infections can be very hard to get rid of, and sometimes, one can't.

Household bleach does kill lots of organisms, and sorry, I don't know what kills fungus, only have failed to eliminate it under a toenail. Full strength bleach could bleach your teak, and I don't know if it will kill the fungus spores. If in fact it is fungus....do you know that for a fact? or is it hearsay?

Bleach should kill it. Not sure about the effect on the wood. I have tried to bleach teak with bleach and it didn't work at all. So go figure. First time you don't want to though... it'll probably bleach!
I'm not seeing much on that teak deck pic that I would call fungus. You mean the grey?
