Lived in Pohnpei for a number of years while it was still part of the US Trust Territory of the Pacific. US is still responsible for defense of the Federated States of Micronesia and USCG and USN traffic is not uncommon.
Guam and the Northern Marianas are not that far north.
If you have to be stranded somewhere, the FSM is not a bad spot. Plenty of rain (dry season is relative), usually lots of edibles in the jungle and lots of
fish and mollusks. Springs and flowing
water are found in many areas although less common on the "low islands" No snakes except the Blind Snake which are commonly mistaken for large earth worms.
As found throughout the Marshal Islands Micronesia and the Marianas,
Turkey Fish (Lion Fish), Stone Fish, Sea Snakes, and the occasional
salt water croc may make water adventures a bit exciting.
Island I lived on, one lightbulb cost you $1.00 a month, 2 lightbulbs cost $2.00 a month... Came on at sunset and went off when the guy who owned the
generator went to
bed
