Hi, and welcome aboard!

At first, I was rather skeptical of yet another knot book, but I just looked through yours and was pleasantly surprised. It is well written and formated, plus there are a few knots that wish that I had known about.

Those friction knots could have come in handy over the years. I've always invented some when needed, but none look as efficient as the ones you have described.

for years ive been using a variation on a rolling hitch for climbing rigging - its a rolling hitch with 3 instead of 2 turns before the locking turn beneath - i dont know where i learned it or what its called but i havent seen it in any knot book. thing is - a rolling hitch with 2 turns wont hold on rigging wire but with 3 it will, and its an easy enough knot to tie one handed while dangling in the air, which a prussik or any of the other friction knots arent - so its a damn useful knot but it seems to have slipped off the radar...

Had a look in Ashley's Book of Knots but could not come up with a 3 turn / 2 round turns (see page 12 in the Knot Booklet) Rolling Hitch.
Perhaps you could refer to it as The Three Turn Rolling Hitch.
It is still after all a Rolling Hitch.

Excellent - have knot books and apps, but the way you build from one knot to the other (tie them together?) gives me a perspective I didn't quite have before and makes it all so much more understandable. Props (as thy say).

Check out the icicle hitch. It will hold even on rod rigging.
