I have a large leeboard on my 32' cat...though it's not a
Wharram, it's very light and very shallow...and it works a treat. She is much more weatherly than I expected, especially with the negative reports on some biplane rigs. MY problem is I tend to point her higher than I ought, and my VMG falls off. She prefers a loose close reach over all other points of sail, both for speed and seakindliness.
As is human nature, there is a downside to the extreme
shallow draft I tend to push my luck anyway, and have twice found bottom with my rudders lol luckily they just kick up.
I'm a big fan of the Tikis and likely will build one for my next boat when I don't need space for 3 kids! Nice
