Great Time Sailing in Turkey

Currently sitting at anchor in a beautiful bay in Ekincik Turkey on our chartered Lipari catamaran.
My gal and I are just finishing up a long holiday and 10 day charter out of Marmaris. We cruised both the Lycian and Carian coasts.

I would like to share that we've had a fantastic time here and never once felt uncomfortable or unsafe...quite the contrary. The locals have always been friendly and welcoming...in fact that is the first thing most say upon arrival...Welcome!
I found it interesting that I seemed to be the only American here.....at least that's what many cruisers and staff have told me. Tourism is obviously WAY down and our anchorages were generally very quite.

As to our charter......we chartered from our new BFF, Cruiser Forum's very own Yeloya! We can not say enough about his operation, our yacht, his staff and of course Atila himself and his lovely wife Aluna.

I would not hesitate to come back.

Did you need a license to charter there?

I'm not 100% sure. I have an ICC and included that along with all my other information sent to Yeloya prior to my charter.

Yeloya obviously knows for sure.

Everything was easy and seamless....Electronic Turkish visa is fast....travel and facilitation was easy and cheap. Yeloya took care of our transfers to and from the airport and EVERYTHING else.

The sailors we met had great things to say about the area we were cruising. I often heard "best in the Med". I wouldn't know of course, but we were very impressed... Scenic, great food and people ....oh, and unlimited water!

I love Turkey. The food is spectacular, and the people can be wonderful.

But right now I'm dealing with a collapsed ceiling due to a leaking pipe in my home. I wish I could walk away from it all and get on the boat and leave it all behind!
