Rudder post goes up and down

The rudder post goes up and down as the wheel is turned.
Does something need adjustment or replacement?
The boat is a 1984 Ticon 30 (successor to the Chrysler 30 and TMI 30).
It is a spad rudder. No play fore and aft or laterally. Post appears straight .

One of the pulleys just before the quadrant is out of alignment. Sometimes it's hard to get them right so you live with it. If you are interested in another project, you can make tapered shims and get the angle right. The wedges that loggers use (or parts of them) make perfect shims.

Whenever I remove / replace my rudders, I use a jack between the bottom of the rudder and the ground, to force the rudder as hard as possible into the hull rudder block, prior to tightening the rudder arm into position.

When I first got the boat, prior to the first rudder removal / replacement, there was a small amount of movement that was detected under some operating conditions. Now I never detect rudder movement.
