Whitby 42 cutter ketch 1981 at a bargain price – ready to cruise in SE Asia

A great cruising yacht for just 49K USD for a quick sale by the Estate. This vessel is sound and was ready for some cosmetic upgrades when the owner passed away. This is a well-equipped practical sailing yacht maintained and operated by an experienced seaman (mechanical engineer) for the past 25 years.
Seller is available to answer any questions and provide purchaser detailed briefing on all systems via telephone or email. Currently dry docked in Samal island, next to Davao, Southern Philippines.

The Whitby 42 is a rugged-looking, full keeled, heavy displacement cruiser designed by Ted Brewer & built by Whitby Boatworks / Fort Meyers Yacht and Shipbuilding.
The accommodations are some of the real attraction of this center cockpit cruiser with : 3 cabins, aft owners double, main salon double pullout, forward v-berth double. The 5′ draft which is excellent for shoal waters.
The Whitby 42 has a modern center cockpit aft stateroom with walk through arrangement. Forward is a large V-berth. There is a forward head with shared shower. In the salon, a L-shaped settee dinette arrangement is offset by sofa seating with batteries and tool storage under. A U-shaped galley is aft to port. The aft cabin has a full width bunk with en-suite head.

The hull has balsa cored topsides. Below are alternating layers of mat and woven roving with polyester resin. The hull and deck is secured by pop rivets. Enlaid is a molded liner to stiffen the hull and provide interior structure. She has a ketch rig.

The engine is a great 80hp Ford Lehman )(1980 with app 4000 hrs) that provides plenty of punch.

Re: Whitby 42 cutter ketch 1981 at a bargain price – ready to cruise in SE Asia

Was this boat owned by one of the Canadians kidnapped from Samal Island Resort Marina and murdered last year? Having traveled there and between the southern islands I can offer it is a beautiful place. The armed guards on inter-island boats and resorts is a reminder of the real dangers in that corner of the world. Contact information for the estate please. Timo Thank you.

No, the owner of this boat is not one of the victims of the kidnappers. The owner was in the US when the events happened. But the boat is well in the marina where these sad events happened. If you send me a PM I will put you in contact with the Estate representative ... but you better move fast if you are interested because several people are interested already ...
