Does anybody know what this is? There are three of them on each side of the cockpit of a 16' dinghy I'm painting

Re: Unknown hardware

They look like slots to insert a batten. Battens can be bent and fitted into the slots. They provide support for a fabric covering so it does not collect water when it rains. Three battens would be about right to raise the cover enough that water doesn’t collect and stretch the fabric not to mention the nasty green stains from mildew.

Re: Unknown hardware

Thanks, my wife thought the same. Don't know if I'll put them back on or not. Thanks again.

Re: Unknown hardware

Yes they are definitely batten supports that are used in hard dinghys to support the battens. The battens are bowed and then inserted to support the dinghy cover
