Crew Wanted: East Coast to Bahamas and then Texas

Crusing from Hilton Head to St Augustine to Ft Lauderdale to Bahamas (June 22), to Key Largo (July 17), to Galveston Texas (Aug 1).

I've got a 57' Chris Craft that is recently fully restored. She has 250 hours on the engines, mechanics and electronics. She just got a $32k bottom job, hull repair, new transom and deck refinished. We are moving her to Texas and looking to hop over to the Bahama Islands for a couple weeks (going over and back with an organized group). I will be alone for a portion of the trip and have Captains that will help for the more difficult parts if necessary, but she sleeps 8 easily, 3 bedroom, 3 bath yacht. My boyfriend and his brother will hop on to do some fishing (and fill the freezer with dinner). Looking for anyone that wants to hop on and help. I am getting my captains license and will have completed the online coursework (test is on June 21). I am a 47 year old mom of a wonderful little 11 year old that will join us in July. My boyfriend is a CFO of a public company and we are from Austin Tx. You can find her at Nauti Cinderella Antique Wooden Motor Yacht | 1964 57' Chris Craft Motor Yacht. PM me for more info

Sounds good.
Is this a paid positon, or are you looking for volunteers to hop a ride?

I am a licensed captain doing the occasional delivery, extensive Bahamas and Florida experience, power and sail.
PM if you are looking to hire a mate or a captain for the trip.

I'm a single mom just trying to get this boat back to Texas so we can live on it ... just exploring options this early in the trip. But I'm open to both volunteers or for hire (depending on what fits in the budget for getting her home). Thanks!!

Oops, just now saw the link and clicked on it:

Wooden hull for sure.
It says new gas tanks, but no diesel smell, and there is mention of Detroits?
(New fuel tanks, not gas tanks?)
Sorry, not being picky, just nature.
My first boat was also a woodie: A 1956 Bill Tripp Bermuda Yawl. Beatiful as can be. But Lots of work keeping her up in tropics.

Yes sorry, My posts still have to be approved by a moderator before they are posted. Diesel engines (not gas), 2 new fiberglass diesel tanks hold 300+ gal each.

Re: Crew Wanted: East Coast to Bahamas and then Texas

Ahoy, Will work for beer.
I would be interested in crewing for ya. I have my newly purchased boat, s/v Amber Marie, down in Florida. As I am not that familiar with boating the east coast this would be a excellent opportunity to get some experience and become more familiar. Will you be sticking to the ICW the entire way or do you plan on heading out and down?
If the timing is right and depending whether or not I want to go back to work, I could crew for parts or the entire way. I am 53, retired and work for the entertainment.

Re: Crew Wanted: East Coast to Bahamas and then Texas

Nice boat I enjoyed checking out the pictures. I love the vintage vesels but they do require alot of work. I have been a licensed capt for over 30 years and have done the east coast more times then I can count on my fingers and toes. I hope you plan to take it slow and smell the roses along the way. Now you have me wanting to do it again.
If you have any question about routing, marina's etc, drop me a note.

I would be really interested in joining you on this trip. I will probably only be able to do the Ft Lauderdale to Bahamas leg though. I won't be able to get more than 2 weeks free. Let me know if that possible

Gorgeous Refit. Well done!

I am in Florida - empty nester Mom and have a flexible schedule. Connecting should not be problematic for the Florida bit. Will fit in and help out where I can in exchange for floating time. I would chip in for supplies. email: lotsabiz2013@gmail

It's a beautiful boat. Looks like you spent a fortune on her. Please tell me about safety equipment. Radar? Life raft? Looks like you plan to travel in hurricane season. How will you get weather updates in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico? I assume you will head west from Key West and take a dog-leg right to avoid the oil rigs?

Re: Crew Wanted: East Coast to Bahamas and then Texas

Hi Ella Owner:

I received your private reply to my offer to crew and tried to reply but the site gave error message that blocked my reply due to being a new member. Jeez! Anyway.... the vetting process is not a problem for me and works toward a comfort level and settling for all parties. Skype is a great tool for this. I live in Florida and am normal Mom, empty nester, no drug use, light alcohol etc. As your schedule comes clear please reply back with your needs. I have time opening currently in June and July. em: lotsabiz2013@gmail.com, skype: ourrendezvous. Happy Cruising on beautiful Ella!
