Sailing Costa Rica/Panama in rainy season

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how it is sailing around Costa Rica and Panama pacific side during the rainy season. I was supposed to be down by the canal already but engine issues have me stuck in Puntarenas, Costa Rica and it looks like it could be another month before I can get out of here. That has me continuing on starting in June hopefully putting me at the canal by mid June. I've heard some negative feedback on cruising around that time despite the Papagayos being more mellow.

Think lightening. The number of boats that get hit on the Pacific coast of Central Am and both sides of Panama in the rainy season is impressively high. Not much you can do about it if you go other than have low-deductible on electronics if you are insured.

It's too late for you to worry about lightning. Anywhere south of El Salvador has lots of it during their rainy season. I've been hit twice in 15 years, once in Costa Rica and once 10 years later in Panama.

Not really, the worst lightening season is a long one. The quicker you get out of it, the lower the chances.
