Biscay (N Spain) in the summer for family cruise?

Any advice for a possible bareboat for a fam of five with 3 kids 5-11 in July/Aug? Seems like a relatively calm time of year and lots of good food but I am pretty ignorant. Fam speaks Spanish, but not up for hard core weather. Good idea? If so, would love itinerary suggestions, good charter rec’s, etc. Anyone want to swap boats for San Diego?

Nothing hardcore about N Spain in July / August. Done it the last 2 years. Main problem will be lots of motoring in light NE'sterlies though there are numerous marinas and anchorages and diesel is (by European standards) cheap. Best charter option, AFAIK, is Hendaye in France then visit Zumaia, San Sebastian, Mutriku, Bermeo, Bilbao, Santander.
Asturias to Galicia (Gijon to Coruna) is perhaps a better coast (definitely cheaper and better food) but harder to access and light on charters.

Do be aware of the weather. If there are storms, it can get nasty. Some of the ports have entrances that can be dangerous in large waves. (Biarritz is a major surfing destination because of this.) Arcachon is great if you like oysters.
