Good anchoring near Ft Myers

We have arranged to charter a sailboat in the Ft Myers area and am planing an itinerary. This will be the week after Easter. Any suggestions?
Thanks all!

West side of merwin key, just at the end of the miserable mile before saint James city, off Saint James city (nice kayaking in the mangroves there), Cayo Costa (hold real close to shore getting in, as its a bit skinny further away from shore) I've also anchored to the west of pine island in a deep spot (well deep enough for a 6 foot draft at the time).

Of course you can pick up a mooring at Fort. Myers beach, but that's spendy. I've anchored in the gulf off lovers Key in the past too (when it's calm)

East side of Sanibel close to shore between the Causeway and Lighthouse, just watch your anchor when the tidal flow reverses and flips you around.

Glover Bight - good access to several restaurants.

Matanzas Pass. A little shallow, a little tight, but a cosy place with a lot to do on shore nearby. Easy access to Ft. Myers by land if you need it.

Pelican Bay. The beaches at the park there are great.

Go here: Waterway Guide

You will notice lots of Anchorage listings but few have any comments or reviews. Once you spend a week checking everything out help all of us by submitting some comments or reviews.

I'll, hopefully, be heading that way in 3 or 4 weeks and will add my own once I have valuable input.

Here's a few that we like: Pelican Bay (north end of Cayo Costa); West side of Useppa Island opposite Cabbage Key; East side of Useppa Island; Bimini Basin (good access to downtown Cape Coral), East side of Sanibel near Tarpon Bay.

Check Active Captain for more info and suggestions.

2nd Glover Bight. Waterway Guide, Active Captain and Navionics for the latest soundings on trip planning. Around Spring Break when you are sailing the good spots can get crowded less to our liking.

Yes, or via original methods "IF" you haven't yet done an update. And if you haven't, DON'T!!

I, unfortunately did the update and now Garmin wants money. They can keep wanting..
