I want to start circumnavigation with my friend, and therefor needs separate cabins for separate livingspace.

Re: Want buy seaworthy boat for circumnavigation

I mean no disrespect with this question, so please don't get offended, but have you ever done any sailing or lived aboard for an extended period of time?

Just curious if you had a feel for your actual space requirements on a boat or were basing it off what you would require in a house. I've found living space (particularly separate quarters) to one of those things that gets an inordinate amount of attention when looking to buy a cruiser. Just my .02

Many boats have 2 heads for 2 separate Living spaces. What do you think about the linked Beneteau Idylle 13.50? It's in your price range.

Re: Want buy seaworthy boat for circumnavigation

It's looks good, but the aft cabin is a little bit small. I tell you my plan: usually I and my friend will be on board (costal navigation), but when we go to long trip (ocean cross) we want to receive guests. Then you may find that with friend I need one cabin. As I see Morgan OI41 has very big aft cabin with own head.

Ok, i understand your reasons, and why not, the Morgan OI is a nice boat for circumnavigation and you can find a lot on the market in various condition.

This is a German couple with a OI 41 on their circumnavigation..

But take care about the money and the EU regulations to...

Stay away from the OI 41. Ask any delivery Captain and they will tell you the same. Great layout, a dog as far as performance....

What performance do you mean? Speed? Downwind sail?

Slow and cumbersome by today's standard and she doesn't point. However, the 416 is the better of the the design linage due to increase sail area which in my opinion is still lacking. You have to remember she was built with accommodations in mind not performance.

As far a circumnavigating is concerned, their are far better choices...

There are also many other boats with long keel are slow and cumbersome by today's standards. But a circumnavigation is not a race.

And the Morgan OI 41 (over 1300 units build) is one of the most popular production boats of this size ever built. The success was not in vain ...
