Catamaran Seagull Striker Question

Guys, I'm looking at a 13m catamaran, & noticed what (to me) is an oddity. The vertical "spreader" that makes up her Seagull Striker is but a single, vertical piece. Meaning that on her forward crossbeam, instead of having 2 vertical "spreaders" coming together & meeting where the wire runs over them. There's but one vertical spreader (piece) coming up off of the forward crossbeam. Has anyone ever seen one like this before? Why might it be built like this? And why are such fittings commonly made from 2 spreaders set on slight angles to the perpendicular, from the forward crossbeam? Which then (usually) meet 2' above the front beam, where the wire between the hulls runs ovetop of them.

I'd post pics, but both my computer, & photobucket account are giving me fits.
So if my description of these rigging bits needs work, please let me know what part needs revising.

Thanks

Re: Catamaran Seagull Striker Question

The diagonal setup spreads the load better and less in risk of buckling than a single pole.

What model of cat are you looking at?

Re: Catamaran Seagull Striker Question

Should be fine. A single pole is a common Richard Woods idea. Probably others do it also. Can easily change to the casting made by Zspar which I used on my boat as fabrication was easier.

Thanks for the tips guys. She's a custom, with a double spreader rig. I'll probably be delivering her, & want to make sure that she's properly built. And Franziska, yes, that makes sense. Part of my asking too is that it looks a bit agricultural. Though some other parts of the boat do as well. Which I don't mind too much, so long as they're sound. My Searunner was that way, as are a fair number of other boats. I just haven't seen a forward beam constructed/rigged this way before.

Guess I'm a bit under-caffeinated today

Does the boat have a bowsprit?
