Ayios Evstratos port: mooring for a night?

On the footsteps of my query about Agrilia & Agios Kampos (thank you Vladis) - has anyone visited the a.m. island (about 20-25nm S of Lemnos in the Eastern Sporades)?
Once again the question is the feasibility of finding a mooring place in the port (or protected anchorage) for a night for a 40ft catamaran.

Let me know how you go, as we will be in this area later in the year.

Sorry no first hand experience - however

See this (Google Chrome will translate from French)

Shelter good
Considerable surge develops with prolonged strong winds from almost any direction.

Re: Ayios Evstratos port: mooring for a night?

In September 2014 we have moored in force 6-7 alongside on the main pier next to the ferry dock, we passed the ferry spring line over our board when the ferry docked. This the pier opposite the entrance, behind on the inside there is a shallower fisherman's harbour. It was quite rolly, used a lot of fenders. Our draft is 1.90 m. There is a military base and that night a lot of choppers landed/took off on the hill. Otherwise the place is quiet, we were the only pleasure craft.

If you haven't seen it, check out the entry on the Wiki at http://www.cruiserswiki.org/wiki/Ayios_Efstratios.

Thanks.
We intend to go over there in two or three days. Our draft is only 1.25m so this is not an issue.
It seems open to the south and in current season there are occasional southerlies. I will report on this if and when we moor there.

Re: Ayios Evstratos port: mooring for a night?

Latest news:
Arrived yesterday afternoon, left this morning.
Moored alongside the long western outer mole (on the inside of course).
There are large plastic fenders mounted around the rectangular basin - these are ship size and proper fendering of the yacht is important.

Basin serves the large ferry but once you are on the mole it has enough room to maneuver.

There are free electricity and water stands on the mole.

We have paid € 4.98 for the mooring to the port police (15 minutes of calculation...).

We did not experience strong winds while there so have no idea of the shelter, seems not excellent in south or S/W wind
