I’d suggest that it might technically be possible to do that from NZ to the uk, but you would certainly be struggling to sail that route uk to NZ

I’d love to see the Bluff harbourmaster’s face when you set off to the south-east en route to the uk...

And of course "straight line" is silly, orthodrome more like.

Relative to the center of the Earth, we're already going 1000 miles an hour, and then that center is going 67 times faster than that around the Sun, and then the solar system as a whole is itself moving almost as fast.

But I digress. . .
