Sailclear in Grenada?

Hi All,

Wondered about the use of SailClear in Grenada. We have a 2-week charter between St Vincent/Grenadines and Grenada. We have a crew change in the middle. Hoped to speed immigration/customs if possible and not very clear on how SailClear works. Ha.

Thanks!

Re: Sailclear in Grenada?

I don't know about Grenada, but was clearing into St Vincent from Grenada at Clifton on Union Island in Jan. Another cruiser was in the office same time as us and asked if they use SailClear. The customs guy pointed to the equipment over in the corner and said it's there but we don't use it. I forget the reason he gave. Not sure of Grenada.

Just checked into Port Louis Marina, St. George's, Grenada. I filled out everything in Sailclear ahead of time. Walked into the customs office and they told me they don't use it and handed me the paper form.

Sailclear would interfere with the 'jobs for the cousins' culture in the Caribbean.

In Antigua they made us fill out Sailclear and then go through the two hour regular entry proceedure!

The French island have the best system...in Les Saintes you go to the internet cafe and sit at a computer drinking beer, you check in and out at the same time. One euro for the forms and 8 euros for the beer!

Re: Sailclear in Grenada?

AFIK, Antigua is the last country using sail clear. Crew change in Grenada is no big deal, but you may be charged a $20 EC per head exit fee.
