Navman Rudder Feedback Unit

I have a Navman 3100 GPilot which is a great unit but the rudderfeedback unit failed and they are hard to find. Does anyone know if another make of RFU could be utilised, I have a good coursemaster RFU installed, I wondered if that would be compatable.

Re: Navman Rudder Feedback Unit

Thanks for the great information, I shall let the customer service department at Navico know this as they are clueless and could only recommend I "upgrade" to a new autopilot.

Re: Navman Rudder Feedback Unit

I use it on my boat and it works fine.

(after connecting the b&G sensor you have to recalibrate the pilot with the program under menu)

Re: Navman Rudder Feedback Unit

I got the same problem. Display shows RFU ERROR.
Navico told today, the B&G sensor will not work with the g-pilot.
May I ask if the change worked also for Pacey?
And Peter could you tell me if the B&G is working also according to the hall effect like the Navman ones?
Many thanks
Ernst

Re: Navman Rudder Feedback Unit

Hi
I have the same RFU feedback warning but the rudder position always still shows on the screen.I thought that the RFU sender also was used for rudder position?
The pilot then stops steering, switch off and on again and will work for brief time
Anyone got some ideas?
thanks

Just to ask if your rudder position indicator still worked?

Re: Navman Rudder Feedback Unit

Hi, had anyone had ny luck in using a Navman rudder feedback with a Raymarine autopilot? I am swapping out the Nvman but do not want to route the rfu cabel again.
The Navman rfu hs a lot of wires but ligicalky only three and shield should be needed but which ones are +, signal and ground in the Navman rfu cable?
