ERICSON 46
An excellent
offshore passage-maker with superb upwind and
power reaching performance. Designed by Bruce King during the 70’s she is one of the last of 22 built in 1973 and has raced in many regattas. She has a beautiful fully appointed
teak crafted cruising
interior with full 6’ 3”
headroom throughout.
Her unique
interior layout offers both a forward guest and aft owners cabins. Both with en-suite heads and privacy doors. The aft
cabin head offers dual access through either the
saloon or within the aft
cabin. She is able to sleep up to (8) persons. The main cabin has matching settees port and starboard with folding backrests which can double as upper berths when converted. This conversion accommodates (4) guests in upper - lower bunks. All berths feature lee cloths for sleeping underway.
Centerline in the main
salon is a fixed table with double folding leafs which can accommodate (6) for dinning. A large
navigation station and big chart table has all the
electrical switching (12DC & 110AC) and
navigation and sailing instrument repeater displays and radios.
Opposite on the starboard side is the L shaped
galley. Good for use underway, it features; double S/S sinks, fresh &
salt water wash, a new S/S FORCE 10
propane gimbaled (3) burner
stove with
oven, both top loading S/S ice box and a large separate DC
refrigerator box. Both with drains. Plenty of dry
storage and locker space and large countertop all with fiddles. A Micro Wave
oven is located here which can operate either on
shore power or while underway with the large
electric inverter.
The
passage aft reveals the owners cabin with one
single pilot berth to starboard and a double berth to port. Two large hatches offer ventilation and light. Over-all the interior design is quite unique and offers privacy, un-cramped spaces and plenty of hanging lockers,
storage lockers and a light airy interior with (6) opening hatches.
The naturally aspirated 50HP BETA (4) cylinder
diesel engine is easy accessed and the
installation offers 360 degree total access. It is coupled to a
Hurth gearbox pushing a (3) blade feathering
propeller. Both low hour (686 original hours - Sept. 20, “16) and in perfect condition.
The ERICSON 46 features a flush
deck; amidships companion way and large aft
cockpit. The sloop/cutter rig is both powerful yet easily handled by only two persons. The large oversized winches and rig/sail plan set up offers
roller furling genoa and
roller furling staysail with control lines leading aft. The full batten
mainsail has lazy jacks and slab reefing. All
sails have been off the
boat and serviced (11/15) and new sunbrela canvass on both headsails. Also a matching
mainsail cover,
companionway dodger and
cockpit top. New cockpit

NOTES
She was hauled and completely professionally painted in March of 2016. Awlgrip
paint and primer was used for the topsides (matthorn white) and the cove and water line stripe (medium grey). This includes a complete bottom job where the entire (total) underwater services were ground down to the original
gelcoat or
fiberglass. Minor
service blisters were
epoxy treated and the entire bottom was epoxied and new gel coat applied along with antifouling
paint. During this time all
bronze thru hull fitting were greased and serviced. Also, the MARTEC 3-blade feathering prop was removed greased and serviced. New zincs.
During the cosmetic
refit, the entire deck was sanded and primed and 3 coats of Awlgrip type paint was applied and new non-skid applied.
The boat has just completed a 2,500 mile
cruise around the western
Caribbean and is located in
Cartagena Colombia. She is fully operational and all items are working and she is ready for the next
passage. She is offered
for sale now as the owner has new plans for a larger boat.
Delivery to your port can be arranged.
