Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup

It was sugested we pick a weekend that is not a holliday but a off weekend as it would make getting service easier along with getting arround an getting meals an such an this makes sense as spring break is crazy down here. Just a thought pluss all the crazies or out on the water an many go out maybe three or four times a year so you get my drift.

I'm in Mississippi for spring break anyway so that's out for me. But I love this plan. I won't go into ANY detail online but I can get us 1/2 of at fisherman's wharf.

We would sail down from Clear Lake. I actually enjoy the Tea Cup Anchorage. I'd go for a sail on Flika as well!

How does March look? I have stuff in February and April.

I could arrange for a house to get together at as well for a poor weather back up plan. At least we wouldn't have stuck with just one option.

We could use the galveston yacht basin clubhouse as it has tables an chairs, real nice , could even get a cTered meal an drinks if the group will follow thru. Looks like it seats anout a hundred or so as it presently is. Walk two blocks an u r on the beach, just a thought.

Bill, I'm in no position, time and location wise, to plan anything so large and in Galveston. I'm only in for arranging a public place or free house to meet up, and a day sail.

I would LOVE to attend what you're talking about, so of you're able to plan it please know I'm happy to turn the Galveston meet up over to you! I'll bring the margaritas!

Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup

OO, here goes, we can pick any week in March to have our getogether an i would reccomend the third week as it is closer to summer plus it gives everyone time to clear their schedule before the first of the April which is tax month. I just did a random count of empty slips an it was close to twenty. The critical factor is the head count an boat count. Are there boats trailered in an if so i need a count. They have a boat trailer area so that is no problem. Parking is no problem for drive ups as well. We just have to get our agenda together also.
I was thinking that everyone would come in Friday by noon at least and we meet an make introductions an hand out the game plan. Friday night would be a free night for each boat or family to explore the island an do something private if they wanted to or they could hang with the main group . Saturday morning we would gather an load up on boats and leave the marina to sail the Gulf in front of Galveston Island an by days end we could wind up at Fishermans Wharf for cocktails an a dinner. Maybe a little dancing there as well. Then back to dock an crash or set up with a fire going somewhere an talking. Sunday we would have breakfast together, say either on the dock with eggs bacon an pancakes with sausage also an OJ. After this we. Would help those cast off lines for their trip home. I know this may not be your cup of tea but it is a beginning point where each can have his or her input to tweek it in the right direction.
So, i need a boat count for slips, a head count for planning meals an seating an a trailered boat count as well. It would be nice to know if you come by car as well as we will have to make more boats share on the sail. Everything is pretty much whatever you want as we each take care of our own checks so no worries there. Maybe someone will start a head count or a boat count so we can get this going. Your input is most welcomed as this is a good starting point. I will go over to the Fishermans Wharf an mak seating arangments as well as the marina after we have the actual counts in hand. So what do say ye?
Best regards,

Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup

March 21,21,23 seems good but it looks like there are no takers so far. Do we have to make an annuncement some where so the group will know? Not sure how it works. Went down to the main drag yesterday in Galveston an there are tons of bars an cafes with parties going on. Just like Bourbon street with music an all. Beautiful today with south east blowing across the island an about 70 degrees.

That works for us. We will be there. We will come up a week or two early and stay for a month, so we can arrange our own slip.
