correction: that's not possible, 'cause the "Wharram-sign" originally was - well, turn it around 180°!

Salticat; Definitely groovy man !
Tell me, did the original build use epoxy ? I'm curious as to the durability given the boats age and what you have had to repair.

Resorcinol glue i think mate. With a billion copper nail. Where the ply is not rotten it takes a massive amount of smashing with a hammer and chisel to seperate the bond between the stringers and ply.And then it' s normally the material that fails and not the bond. I have been heartened by this observation no end.

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

Most of the repairs are due to freshwater ingress by way of dodgy fasterner installation or mechanical action created by the way the beams where attached to the boat originally. Also copper nails corroding and busting up through the surface.

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

Paddling out to my liveaboard catamaran in the Pioneer river Mackay I nearly sunk my ass in the "croc infested" waters last night.
I did a bodgy repair under torchlight with resin pumps that are long past their use by date.Luckily it went off and has hardened up.
They don't show this crap in the glossy sailing mags😁

I have been using an industrial water based 50/50 ratio epoxy as a bog. I love the stuff.Water smooths out the fillets you make and there is hardly any slumping which is nice. Click image for larger version

All sixteen lashing pads are now fabbed. I used Kwila hardwood decking timber for the timber components. Click image for larger version

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

Is that the correct beam? Looks kind of narrow, but it may be the angle of the pictures.

Yep. The classic Wharrams are not as beamy as later models.
