Experienced Sailing family seeks 6 month home for boat swap

Greetings Cruiserforum:

We are a family of four seeking a 6 month home-for-boat exchange starting in Dec 2019 preferably in the Caribbean. Our previous, pre-kid cruising experience includes West Coast US, Mexico, Central America, Western and Eastern Caribbean, East Coast US, transAltantic to Ireland and Greece as well as some professional deliveries to Bermuda.

We are not at a point of sailing away into the sunset, but want to offer our kids (now 7 and 4) a glimpse of the majesty out there.

Our home is a 3 bed room, 2 bath with a guest cottage in the back yard in the Santa Barbara, CA area and in Carpinteria, one of the last true remaining beach towns. It is an area of dramatic geology and beauty, where the mountains meet the sea and offers many draws, from sailing the Channel Islands just off the coast, to other activities that run the gamut from world class surfing to wine tasting, rock climbing, camping, paragliding, mountain biking, and so on. The beach is a bike ride away in this three brewery town (we work at one!) and the school is just around the corner, if you need one!

In any event, this is the first part of a long process, but which I submit to see what might be out there.

Cheers and thanks for your time.

Strategically rent the house out for six months, and you'll cover the cost of **buying** your own family boat.

Maybe start out camper-ing around off-grid seeing the country by land to help get started.

Thousands of families do so at very low cost per month.

Just putting it out there as an option. . .

Would you be interested in Australia? We live aboard a Lagoon 420 on the East coast of Australia and could be tempted by a boat for home exchange.

Keith:

It’s an intriguing idea. I’m not familiar with your area, but have favorable impressions. Let’s pick this up via email. Mark@islandbrewingcompant.com

Bit of a typo. And that was:

Thanks.
