Anything to Look out for in Survey - Lagoon 440

I have a survey coming up, is there anything out of the normal that I should get the surveyor to look out for or pay special attention too?

Bulkhead Tabbing and Rudder Bearings are the only two that I have heard of with the 440 - Any more would be appreciated

Re: Anything to Look out for in Survey - Lagoon 440

I surveyed a Lagoon 450F in Fiji in March and one thing I noticed was that the plywood bulkheads were not resin coated right down to the bilge. The fiberglass work around the rudder posts was pretty average as well, the aft cabinet on the starboard side of the main cabin had come away from the rest of the woodwork as well. A lot of the bulkheads are just coved into the hull and only the main bulkheads are tabbed in. I am not a fan of this but it sems to work. This lagoon needed all new engine room insulation after only 8 years.
Cheers

Yes I've heard similar stories - When I looked over the boat it all seemed good, but I have already told the surveyor to pay extra attention to this area.

Cabin windows tend to loosen in their glue after 10 years

Beware of Yanmar saildrives - they have a clutch/gear change issue

Apart from that - wonderful boat!

All the best,
Allan

Re: Anything to Look out for in Survey - Lagoon 440

We have a Lagoon 440 and love the boat. As someone else has already mentioned please pay special attention to the condition of the saildrives. The cone problem is well documented in this and other forums and I recommend that if you buy this boat that you upgrade with the aftermarket kit sold by s/v Panache saildrives@yahoo.com

Otherwise we also experienced the need to rebed some of the windows in the salon. I found the problem not the surveyor so have him look carefully and perhaps water test.

Sail drives, windows that need rebedding, sky hatches, and the electric drain pump for the shower. Other than that Lagoon is a fine catamaran
