Thoughts for novices on BENETEAU BLUE II CATAMARAN

Hello all,

My wife and I recently saw a 35' BENETEAU BLUE II CATAMARAN for sale and we are interested but know very little about this boat. We are both new to sailing and would like to buy a boat within the next year.

Does anyone have information on this build such as offshore capabilities, common design problems, and general seaworthiness?

We want to buy a boat to learn sailing for a while but would like it to have offshore passage making capabilities as that is something we want to do later. Any help would be appreciated.

I always thought it's a very pretty cat.
The French magazine Multihulls World have just done a second hand test report in their Nov/Dec 2015 issue. www.multihulls-world.com

Maybe Richard Woods post is on this site (I think it is). He opined that it's a cat with issues. I seem to remember "hobby-horsing" being one of them.
Never been on one myself, so just reporting 2nd-hand.

Charles Kanter did a review on it, I dont remember it all but I thought he liked it and it had some good points

Re: Thoughts for novices on BENETEAU BLUE II CATAMARAN

I was close buying one located in Tunisia some years ago. I backed away because it was little bit too small for my plans. The saloon and its seeting is great. The head is super small accoding to me...and also the galley. The cabins are also very small.

The boat was also in worse condition than I knew. It was priced at 30 000 Euro and needed about 10 - 15 000 in upgrades.

I never got to sail it but the all say it sails very well. I actually say this one for sale in Tunisia again by another owner. He was asking 27 000 Euro. I was tempted.
