Extend Cruising Turkey/Med

Hi,
We are looking at purchasing boat in Turkey or Spain, doing some refit over winter, then cruising next season.
Does anyone know mid priced (as in good to deal with people) boat yards, that can haul 23ft/7mt wide cat.
And will allow us to do some of the technical refit/upgrade work and contract out the bottom job and standing rigging?

We hauled out at Finike Boatyard in Turkey. Prices were reasonable. Keeping boats at the Finike marina was relatively cheap by Med standards. I would go back to Finike.

Hi maxingout,

Sorry for the late reply, have been away looking at boats..

Researching on the net, points to Finike as well.
Thanks for the first hand info.

Can you recommend any places to visit or good anchorages in Med?

Be careful selecting a yard; many turkeys in Turkey!

Also, some yards in Spain will quote a price and upon completion increase the cost or no splash. I backed out of a great boat because of the reputation of the yard.

But... the Med is a magnificent cruising ground (not cheap though) and you will have many years of pleasure.

If it helps there is a facebook group specifically for sailing in the Med who are very good at answering questions.

Yes Turkeys as far as the eye can see.. Just wasted time and money on Turkey of the Broker kind in west coast Florida..

Wife is Spanish speaker, so may help in Spain. Different Cultures, view things differently sometimes..

I have found ghost ads for boats in Greece, for example.

Thanks for the tip.
