Export boat from Spain for non EU citizen

Has anyone here had to go through the process of exporting a boat from Spain as a non EU citizen ?

We are trying to avoid paying unecesary VAT as we will be sailing the bot back to New Zealand in a couple of months.

We just bought a boat in Palma, and have paid half the amount (as we are pending final negotiations). We are currently trying to find an export agent VIa the broker, but it seams they are not very good at communicating with the broker or us about the process.

Initially we were planning on completing the sale in Gibraltar so that the boat would already be out of the EU vat zone so we wouldn’t have any trouble proving the export to Spanish Authorities. Has any one done this before ?

If anyone knows of a good broker or has any experience they would like to share would be much appreciated!!
