1974 Olympic Adventure 47' Ketch - proven record!

After only 8 months living aboard we are letting go of Gromit. With young kids aboard, and plans to have more kids, we thought it best to take a break and give it another go when the kids are older. Despite the short time living on Gromit, we're sad to see her go and hope someone else is able to get her out on the ocean where she belongs!

Before we owned Gromit, the previous family of 5 had just completed a 7 year circumnavigation. Refitted by an engineer in 2008 with redundancy in mind, many of the systems are duplicated making it great for distance cruising in remote areas.

Builder: Olympic
Model: Adventure
Length: 47'
Rig: Ketch with cutter stay
Location: Green Cove Springs, FL
Price: $92,000

Already outfitted with everything you would need: watermaker, spare sales, spare engine parts, solar and wind power, dinghy, tons of spare lines, even jerry cans!

I'm a big believer in 100% honesty upfront, so here are some of the things it needs:
-Fridge does not work, could be a bad connection or compressor
-The headliner could use some love, maybe some paint, it's sagging in a couple of areas but not really noticeable unless you put your hand on it.
-The main mast needs a boot where it goes through the deck (to make it pretty), however it DOES NOT leak!
-The halyard winches are the old style wire wheel drums, which are reliable but kind of a pain to raise the sail with. I've already bought self tailing winches, they just need to be installed.

I've included a few photos below, but please see our website for a comprehensive list of equipment and more photos!

As I sit here this morning I see the post has been viewed 524 times so folks are looking. Maybe folks don't comment unless they want it.

Pricing is up to you. If you are wanting it gone in less than 30 days maybe you should take it down a notch or two. If you want the money then be patient, it is getting exposure.

Somewhere you will reach a balance between profit and 'stop the bleeding'.

Hi.
Sorry to see your sailing and liveaboard life plans have ended.

Good luck on your sale.

Here are a few suggestions to help:

As I recall, the boat had a very nice engine room or space, with nicely laid out wiring and multiple fuel filters etc. . I suggest cleaning it and taking several photos of it and posting those photos to this thread.

Also, include more photos of the interior, the head, the aft cabin, and provide a copy of your survey, and more details on the gear included.

This is a large boat, and could fit a large family of five. Show each of the berths.

Thanks Steady for the suggestions. Posting the survey is a good idea because it had a pretty good one. Unfortunately, the forum limited me to how many pictures I attached, but that is why I linked through to our website where there are plenty more!

I'll have to see if there is a way to get more to show up in the thread.

BTW, price reduced to 88,000!!!

You can post up to 12 images in each posted comment. Use the advanced button, select then upload six images, then select six more upload them. Hit post reply.

Then post another comment with up to 12 more images. I do this often.

The forum software "times out" or prevents edits to a post after about 5 minutes.

So, you will NOT be able to edit your top or Original Post.

So, add them to a new comment or reply in this thread.

To add photos to this THREAD, or discussion, simply add a new comment, using the "Advanced" tab and then upload 6 or more photos for each comment you post.

I believe you were next to me In Norfolk last fall. Large very solid boat she is. A good many of the larger builds up for sale need much work. Yours being ready to go for most part should get her sold.

Geta, no she's not for sale anymore. It's a good boat and while there are other good boats out there for sure, we decided to keep her until we are ready to cruise again.
