Alternative to Volvo Penta sealant compound 840879

Can anyone offer me any advice on an alternative 'standard sealant' that I could use instead of the Penta part No. 840879? I intend replacing the crankshaft rear oil seal on our Volvo Penta MD2030 C this weekend and notice that the flywheel housing has a sealant used between this and the block, any advice is welcome. Many Thanks in anticipation Doug

It is Loctite 574.

Loctite 518 can also be used if that is easier to find where you are.

Glad I could help Doug.

Michele creates and writes our blog - I don't have anything to do with it. It would not be as good if I wrote it. Besides, I always forget to take pictures of things, so it would be boring as well.

Loctite 515 is good stuff, you can get apart easy enough & yet still seals. Even use it on my head gasket on Yanmar ysm8, its been off 3 times & still using the same head gasket with no leaks. Works without any gasket too although I turn to silicone if the gap is very big. Good luck
