Thoughts on 1985 Jeanneau Espace 1100

I'm internet looking at a 1985 Jeanneau Espace 1100 and am wondering if anyone has any experience with them. They cross off so many items on my wish list...sugar scoop, pilothouse, shallow draft (swing keel). But there isn't much information on the internet about them.

Jeanneaus have a decent reputation, but I'd love to hear first hand experience. I know they made other versions too (990, 1000, etc).

Thanks.

THERE is a guy who did the nw passage with a shorter espace 1000 which is imho a testimony of the design's ruggedness.

Re: Thoughts on 1985 Jeanneau Espace 1100

I am working on a Jeanneau just now. Its the second one in the past year, swing keel problems, the keel is prone to rusting where it cant be seen, it then gets stuck, and either won't go up, or won't go down, last one, the keel had to be taken off, involving cutting through the pin with a saw, then dropping the keel, this one, the pin will move, so we will take the pin out, drop the keel and probably replace it, the keel is not cast steel, its steel plate, hence why it rusts so badly, I would say thats the weak point on these boats.
