Neilpride has it right. Hunter uses an aluminum plate for all surface mounted items. The plate is glassed in.
As for those cracks, the usual practice is to just drill a straight hole for the bolts or whatever, then apply lots of adhesive.
A better practice is to drill the straight hole, then countersink the hole to prevent the cracking.

I wouldn't just assume that the traveler arch is just screwed into an embedded plate. Mine aren't and are through bolted with backing plates.

Looking at your pic it looks like it might have been removed before. I would contact that Hunter forum and see what other owners of your boat have seen. You can also contact Hunter I don't know what that would do you because of the age. I know I had a friend that had a older hunter and he removed a lot of his gear and drilled all the way through the chain plates and put a block underneath for More support but I don't know if it also his arch.

FYI, I looked underneath and if there is a backing plate, it's glassed in. Going to look again and will take some photos.

I had a 2003 Legend 356 with the same problem. I decided that the gel coat crazing and the discolouration were not connected. I had the gel coat repaired, it didn't cost much and the brown stain cleaned off easily, possibly contamination from the inside of the tube.

Most deck fixings are screwed to glassed-in aluminium plates, take care with these as I had to drill out some screws on hinges.

Did you have to remove the traveller arch to do the repair?

No, it was just tidying up the gelcoat. When the grp guy dressed out the hairline cracks in the gel coat I could see immediately that it was not through to the substrate.

I have a friend that removed the arch to modify it to take a wind generator it took some persuasion and came off with a bit of a bang.
