Windlass on a '83 Catalina 30

Has anyone installed a windlass in a Catalina 30 or similar boat? My local guy is suggesting fiberglassing the anchor locker shut permanently closed and installing the windlass on the lid (with a new small access port). Any other suggestions?

Try searching the various Catalina sites. What your guy suggests sounds a little radical. I've seen one installed inside the anchor locker, just don't know where.
