Ideally,power steering needs a "constant" volume pump.This ensures your hard over time is same at
engine idle as at full
RPM.The common constant volume pump used in my area is a Vickers 10gpm with a "throttle"plate in it,cutting it back to a constant 5gpm @ 800-1000PSI
Not saying you need 5gpm for your ram setup,but a constant vol.is preferable.
Another consideration is hyd.oil heating-common with
power steering-it runs constantly.Temp. control is either a large reservoir (5-10gal tank) or a
heat exchanger of some kind.
Just some things to be aware of before tapping your
clutch hydraulics.
