Cruising guide to Belize

Hi Gang,

We'll be going to Belize as a destination during our Caribbean sail. Does anyone have useful concrete information for a good Cruising book for the area?

Cheers,

The best source of navigation info for Belize is Freya Raucher's guide:

Re: Cruising guide to Belize

We used Freya Raucher a few years ago and yes it is the only thing around - and yes it is not correct in more than a few places

Eye balls do not work in all places due to the color of the water - so go carefully and watch and take your time = we did and had a great time
and stay out of Belize City-- oh and there is a marina near there that has a very very shallow entrance and not sure how secure it is -
just be a prudent sailor and you will be ok

Thank you everyone!

We have all bells and whistles... including forward looking sonar. We thought about all the risks... I think...

Thats Cucumber Beach Marina, entrance spec is 6', but it tends to silt up. They do dredge it peridocially, but best to confirm with marina the current status. Security there is fine.

Awesome, awesome notes!!! Thanks for such a great write-up!

Just read your notes last night and will re-read them again before I leave for Placencia in a couple of weeks.
