Creating kap charts with night mode color schemes

I am using the MAPCAL => mc2bsbh.exe => tif2bsb.exe workflow to create kap charts from jpegs. They end up to have no additional color schemes to support the F5 night mode function in OpenCPN.

I looked at the pilot charts and see DAY, DSK, NGT color schemes besides the RGB.

Can someone point me to a doc or tools to add those color schemes to my charts? Tools can be Linux or Windows. The color depth in my files is IMF/3 or IMF/7.

Thanks!

Re: Creating kap charts with night mode color schemes

"Imgkap" has options for night palettes.

Another way, if you just have a few files, is to just copy the lines you want into your kap files. Remember applying all the normal rules for editing kap files. Use a good text editor and run "bsbfix" on the files when you're done. All depending on how many kap files you have.......

Re: Creating kap charts with night mode color schemes

Thanks Thomas, that basically works!

but imgkap doesn't seem to accept the hdr file coming from mc2bsbh. It does accept the header from the kap files created by tiff2bsb. This is just fine for the ~40 files created so far, but I'd like to streamline this a bit more. I can use gimp... but I like SeaClear/Mapcal better.

So coming with the output from MapCal and mc2bsbh, is there a way to go directly to imgkap?

currently I use this command line example:
Code:
imgkap -p MAP 024.gif Colombia-024.kap Colombia-024-with-night-color-scheme.kap
