Awesome. Thanks Skipmac. Yes, I'm looking for used. Haven't been able to find any listings for a used set online. I probably have to actually call one of those consignment shops.

Do you have davits on your boat? If so, how are they attached? I'd rather not put any holes in my coaming if I don't have to, so I'm wondering if I can attach these entirely to the stern rail. Assuming you have this rail too, it's a pretty beefy rail... I need two attachment points, so I'm thinking this can be done if I attach to the vertical section and the horizontal as well. That sound like a dumb idea?

To clarify... I think I need two attachment points per davit, so 4 in total.

They need to be firmly thru bolted to the coaming or deck. The leverage is huge with the dingy on there. A pulpit is good for stabilization, but not up to the whole task at all.

Have to agree with Cheechako. Unless you will only have a very, very light dinghy (not a RIB for sure) the davits must be through bolted. Mine came with rail mounts to the pushpit but only screwed into the teak cap on the coaming and the screws pulled out.

I through-bolted the davit bases to a 4"X6" backing plate and reattached the brackets to the two horizontal pushpit rails and even that feels just barely good enough. My davits only have a base plate at the bottom and no additional leg going forward which I think would be a much better design.

Looks like lots of the companies use SS tubing for arches. The place recommended in NJ does aluminum arches. Aluminum would be nice. A lot less weight hanging off the stern...

I did a lot of study looking for davits for our 43-foot Ketch and in the end of the day we went with the arch where we now have three solar panels and davits under and it really works. The aluminum pipes are far lighter than stainless steel and actually look great on the boat aesthetically

I'd like to add also that we had their team install and they did a really good job and because they do it all the time it was fairly quick considering, had I done that it would have been 46 hours! I think they were done in 5 hours.

I have a set of Martek davits I just took off my Morgan 462, they used to hold a 10' Caribe RIB. Nothing wrong with the davits, I removed them to install an arch on which I could also install a solar array. I have all the parts in the garage at home. If you're interested I can take some pictures and we can discuss further. Not sure what the shipping would be from Fort Lauderdale, but we can figure that out too.

I'll be looking for Davits as well in the San Diego area.. My Dinghy will be about the same size, perhaps 11' and a 15HP engine. I hope the pricing will be around 3 - 4K with installation.. I'll add the solars and wind gen later to the rig.. All hoping of course.. LOL

Look at Ocean Marine Systems. They built a set for our Custom 45 ketch and we are extremely happy. 9X Caribe, 6 gal. fuel tank, me ( 175lbs) and I can haul it up without problem. ( I'm 62 ) Good quality and workmanship, reasonable price.
