It's official.....I have a fun vessel for summer!!

My buddy and I went halves on a Catalina 27 this past fall and brought it up the Hudson from City Island. One hell of a trip!

Thankfully for all of you I'm not here to ask if my boat is "blue water" capable. I figured I would start here say hi and make my way over to engines where my real questions will be put out there.

Thanks,
Mike

I've been completely restoring a 1986 Catalina 27 since last year. If you have any questions about some project or repair I've probably already done it and know a little bit about the subject. What year is your boat?

She is a 1977. Lots of crazing on the topside. Hull and keel is in great shape. Going to re-bed all the stantions. Pulled the teak this fall and are going to soda blast it next week. I'm sure we will run into questions and I will keep you in mind.

Thanks,
Mike

Good luck, Mike! I spent the last season sailing on the Hudson and the Upper and Lower Bays. Lots of fun.

Re: It's official.....I have a fun vessel for summer!!

The trip up the Hudson is really etched in to my mind. Beautiful scenery and it was those couple freak days last fall in October when it was in the 80's and little to no boat traffic.

What is also seared in to my mind was going through hell gate with a 4.5knt tide at our back and dealing with a large large freighter and two large powerboats back to back in the narrowest part. Thankfully the first powerboat saw the situation I was up against and slowed so I could go straight on into the freighters wake.
