Beneteau 50 vs Jeanneau SO49

He y'all
So the admiral and I have made a paradigm shift in our thoughts regarding the cruising life. We had decided on 40ish cat but the boat we want we just can't justify the cost. However we have been looking at a number of 45 to 50 ft mono that are very well equipped in very nice shape and within our budget. Given the choice of the Bene or the Jeanneau which appeals to everyone here. Anything specific we should be aware of? They are a 2002 and a 2005 model year and are similarly equipped low hour one owner non charter boats. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance
Will

In general I like the Jeanneaus a little better. Less of a swoopy Euro look. Also at least years ago, Jeanneau had a layer of Kevlar in the hull layup and used real glassed in floors and stringers rather than a separate tub that Beneteau and others did.

I love sailing the Jeanneaus , but prefer beneteaus interior. Deliver a new 42i with the performance pack , from France to Greece last year , fast frigging boat I tell you. Sea kindly too.

I took several Jeanneau deck saloons through awful mid Atlantic storms. Damm fine sea boats

We close on a 2007 Beneteau 49 friday. We had looked at a 2002 473 in Kemah Texas. We had issues with the bank on financing the 473. We had no issues with a 2005 473. Check the buc value before you even start looking at financing and negotiation.
