Ohiwa Bar and Ohope Beach Bay of Plenty New Zealand

Took a drive from Papamoa down to the Motu river on the east Cape. Drove onto the Ohope beach and saw numerous boats on moorings in the Ohiwa harbour. I am looking for information on crossing the bar into the Ohiwa Harbour. Found some stuff online from fishermen saying the it is a very tricky bar. Would also like a cruising guide recommendation for the Bay of Plenty and East Cape of NZ. Jack

Coastal Cruising Handbook published by the Royal Arakana YC is the cruising guide for the area.
