East Coast of Mexico to US ?

As there is little to no information regarding sailing out of Mexico, I had a few questions I was hoping I could get some help with.

1. Is there anyone, at all, planning to sail out of any port on the east coast of Mexico to the United States during the month of October or November?
A. I have been backpacking around Mexico and am looking to help crew a boat leaving for the U.S. I have years of experience sailing, though not in the Carribbean, and am a legite U.S. Citizen.

2. I did indeed read that the Yucatan Express is dead and buried, and wondered if anyone had any other suggestions for sailing out of any ports on the east coast of Mexico, ie companies, schools or captains who sail to the U.S.

Thanks in advance
regards,
kelsey

Not sure where you're at in Mexico, and I don't have any specific answers for ya as to who's leaving or how to get out....but if it were me, I'd hike my way towards Isla Mujeres and start hitting the docks and asking around. My guess...you'll find a ride.

Not a big place, but probably the most popular hopping off point for US bound cruising boats.

Good luck...

Thanks Rob-

I'm already headed towards Puerto Morelos, but I'll definetly add Mujeres to the port list- they seem relatively close.

Appreciate it.
Regards-
Kelsey

Yes, I'd recommend Isla Mujeres. I've never sailed there, but I've visited numerous times and there have always been some boats in the anchorage, I'd imagine either waiting to head back to the states or just arrived from the states.

Isla Mujeres is also a fun town to hang out in for a bit! There's a cheap, somewhat dirty hostel and also small hotels of all price ranges (I like El Caracol). Everything is in walking distance - beaches, grocery store, cheap restaurants. You can bike around the island and enjoy the beautiful views. Hang out with the locals at the town square and watch basketball while eating fresh tacos and cool aqua fresca... mmm.
