DELAWARE CITY MARINA - WELCOME!
DELAWARE CITY MARINA
It is on the Delaware end of the C&D
canal. Actually it’s on the old
canal, they eventually straightened the main canal and bypasses this bit. The canal is maybe 120’ wide, has 6’ of tide and 4+ knots of
current. All berths are side to.
30 ton
lift. The owner lives atop the marina store. Completely fenced yard. Year round yard crew.
We were there for several years, mostly in the
water but hauled a few times. We are 44’ on
deck, 52’ overall, 6-1/2’
draft, 20 tin
steel cutter. The
draft is the only problem. We had to launch and haul at high tide which was not slack
water. None-the-less the yardies are knowledgeable and would make it happen.
Do it yourself yard. I did a LOT of
work there.
Small town, kinda down on its luck but far better than some. 1 small convenience store, 2 bar/restaurants, a couple of B&Bs, 6 or so churches. A hourly bus runs a
route that takes you past a good super market and a Home Depot. Having wheels would be a plus. Reasonably close to Wilmington DE with rail connections to The NE Corridor.
Talk to the Owner, explain your situation. IF (big IF) it’s the right day you might be able to slide he in an out of the way spot and strike a deal. So long as she’s not in the way. Don’t know.
