Watching Man for monitoring at mooring

For our new Lagoon 39 we are looking for a Watching Man device to know if something is wrong when alone at mooring.
Would like to know if users have had a good experience or what other alternative device to look at.

Welcome to the forum, Patolega.

We installed a similar device [cell data dependent] a couple of years ago and it paid for itself in the first year when our shore power cord shorted out while we were away from the boat.

We went with the Siren Marine offering, and it has been very reliable.

You didn't mention where your boat is located, but the Siren device is international and we pay a flat annual fee for unlimited messages anywhere there is cell service. We routinely travel between Alaska and Canada, and the transition between cell systems is flawless.

It is also remotely programmable, which is a nice feature so you can change things while away from the boat. We also like being able to turn on lights, and disconnect the main battery bank remotely using our smart phones.

There are several offerings out there, but so far this one still seems to be keeping a slight edge.

Interesting device. Although in the FAQ it says to avoid "Avoid the direct sunlight, sources of intense heat or air flows over the sensor"

Not sure you can avoid that in a marine environment

Seems like a good system but a longer term problem is the shutdown of the GSM phone networks around the world. No GSM, No connectivity to your phone/boat. I know in my neck of the woods here in Australia, the GSM band is being shut down in the next few months to free up the RF space for more 4G systems.
The major problem for a lot of industries, is there is no replacement system that's plug and play for the old GSM based circuit switched data as the newer 3/4/5 g systems doesn't have circuit switched data capability which is the system used by the majority of these systems to send command messages and status updates.
