Transmission repair in Malaysia

Hiya, I'm stuck in Melaka, Malaysia with a broken ZF 12 M transmission, it no longer goes into forward. I can take it as luggage on the bus about anywhere. Just need to find a shop that is familiar with these and can get parts. I have emailed the two authorized repair centers near here, but no response so far. Anyone familiar with the area have a recommendation? Thanks in advance. mark

Telephone or visit in person, don't expect a response to an e-mail.

The alternative would be Singapore:

  • ZF Marine Singapore Pte. Ltd.

    • 20 Harbour Drive, 06-01 PSA Vista
    • Singapore , 117612
    • Singapore
    • Phone: +65 6773 7551

It is an exception to get a reply to your email in Malaysia. Try calling, or better yet visiting. But if I was in your situation I would probably take it to Singapore because, Malaysia.
Here's a short story: a friend recently needed parts for his Lagoon's tranny. Yanmar dealer in KL said about 60 days. Then my friend called Singapore dealer: 3 days. And cheaper. Even after airfares and hotels. Enuf said.

Gooday...I have form with ZF and no go in forward gear, clutches gone?

Parts are not cheap. Mine was a ZF 10

In my case I thought the problem was caused by operating in warm waters, Pacific, Tonga was when the first one died. And the very small oil capacity. Does your box have an oil cooler ?

After 3 failures I fitted a PRM 120 which required almost no alterations, I just lifted the engine by 10mm.

Airfreight UK to Australia was cheap!

Re: Transmission repair in Malaysia

You might give PSS in Satun a call. The mechanic at the yard has a good rep with transmissions and is a short ferry/bus ride away.
