Chartering older modified/full keel medium displacement voyager In the BVIs

Hi all!
My wife and I have done some sailing for the past several years, and are interested in buying a boat to liveaboard whilst sailing from NYC to CA via panama.
We're shopping around and trying to get a feel for boats we like. We like the idea of a more comfortable blue water capable cruiser with full, modifed, or skeg as apposed to a lighter displacement fin-spade combo. We're trying to charter something in the Caribbean. We found a place that has new island packets, but the smallest is too expensive for the week. Any recommendations on a place that would charter something for us? Similar to what we'd like to buy? Or any other opportunities /ideas to get some experience would be greatly appreciated.
