Newport Beach - California short term slip/anchor

Hi friends,

Going to be doing some port hopping soon along the southern California coast. Needing info on Newport Beach area. I'd prefer to rent a slip, but can anchor and do the dinky dinghy thingy. Only looking for 2-3 days rental.

If you've anchored here, can you tell me your experience, where you anchored, and where you dock the dinghy? (Yes, I looked at the charts, and did the googly stuff, but it's not always marked.)

Better yet, can you provide contact info for 2-3 day slip rental for 43-48 foot length. I prefer a starboard turn to slip, but can deal with almost anything because I don't like polishing scratches.

Hey thanks and great sailing to you all,

Stopped there several times, no problema, use link posted above. We always just stopped at police dock and got a morning ball assigned. There is a very small spot to anchor, but sort of a joke, and rules require someone remains on board. There are some public slips, but not many and not very big. Cost wise a great deal considering where you are.

Anchoring is free for up to 3 days. The special anchorage is shown on your chart of Newport Bay at the southeast top of Lido Island. There are several public docks on Balboa Island where you can tie your dinghy.

Welcome to Newport Beach. We have one public anchorage off the east end of Lido Isle, up to 5 days free of charge. The City maintains a first class marina with all amenities, Marina Park, contact dockmaster@newportbeachca.gov. If you are a yacht club member, contact Balboa Yacht Club for reciprocal privileges, VHF channel 69, 949 673 3515. Go to the visitor's tab on the City's website for a link to The Complete Cruising Guide to Newport Harbor. There's lots to explore, experience and enjoy in Newport Beach.
